The Chair of the Willington School Building Committee moved that the committee "recommend to the first selectman and the board of selectmen to continue negotiations on the purchase and sale agreement for the River Road parcels and execution and potential execution of the purchase and sale agreement on the River Road parcels up to and not exceeding a value of $510,000." The motion was seconded and passed unanimously on roll call, recorded as 7-0-0.
The committee followed that motion with a second unanimous vote to recommend that the board of selectmen ask the townspeople for an appropriation of "$20,000 refundable earnest money deposit" for the River Road purchase from the school reserve fund or another funding source. The Chair said the appropriation would fund an earnest-money deposit tied to the purchase-and-sale process and clarified that the committee’s vote was a recommendation to the first selectman and board, not a direct appropriation. The committee recorded both roll-call votes as unanimous.
