Staff presented a proposal to adjust community‑use facility rental rates (group categories) by about 10% after benchmarking neighboring districts; the proposed increase is intended to cover electricity, custodial and maintenance costs and take into account credit‑card fees for online payments. Trustees discussed whether increases should be automatic (tied to COLA or inflation) or subject to annual review and whether to bring the fees to the board more frequently.
"I will motion that we approve the facilities rental rate increase proposed here along with an automatic review of, of the rates each year," a trustee said during debate; other trustees suggested making the review automatic but retaining a board vote if market conditions changed. The motion to approve the 10% increase with an annual review was moved and seconded and the item was carried into the consent agenda for formal action.
