After an executive session to review appraisals and negotiation status for three parcels on Route 32 recommended by the School Building Committee, the Board of Selectmen returned to open session and moved to authorize the First Selectman to execute the purchase‑and‑sale agreement pending corrections to the document.
First Selectman Mike McCoo said the motion on returning from executive session: "The board of selectmen moves to authorize the 1st selectmen to sign the purchase and sale agreement pending the corrections to the designation of purchaser and seller." The board noted that counsel and staff had discovered the purchaser and seller fields on the draft were reversed; the correction will be made before the signatures are applied. The motion carried by recorded voice vote with three ayes.
The board indicated the authorization is contingent on the clerical corrections and that any further substantive changes would require additional board review. The school building committee will present relevant materials at the upcoming town meeting for the public to consider a deposit toward the proposed purchase.
