Parents ask board whether transitional kindergarten (TK) will start by 2025

Two parents of incoming young students told the Loma Prieta Joint Union Elementary School District board during public comment that they and other community members are concerned the district will not offer transitional kindergarten (TK) because of budget constraints. Noelle said the district has heard from families that the decision may be budget-driven and asked what the district’s plan is to roll out TK by 2025.
“Noelle: ‘we're really wanting to know if there was any sort of plan with TK rolling out by 2025.’”
Board members thanked the speakers, noted the district was hearing similar concerns and said staff would schedule time to follow up with the parents and provide more information. The board did not take action during public comment; staff later said they would meet with parents and return with details about TK planning and enrollment thresholds. The trustees encouraged continued parent engagement and said funding and space constraints remain the primary drivers of any change to program offerings.
