District projects surplus; superintendent to propose meal-price changes at July meeting

District Accountant Emmaly Monfort reported the district is projecting a surplus for the 2025-2026 fiscal year, citing additional revenue from energy rebates, higher open-enrollment revenue relative to expenses, reduced personnel costs and benefit changes as contributing factors. "Emmaly Monfort reported that she is projecting a budget surplus for 2025-2026 due to additional revenue from focus on energy rebates, open enrollment revenue vs. expenses, reduced personnel expenses, and benefit changes," the minutes state.
The board discussed food-service pricing in light of rising food costs; Superintendent Nick Kaiser told the board he will bring a recommendation for breakfast and lunch prices for the 2026-27 school year to the July 15 regular board meeting. The minutes record the board reviewed neighboring districts' meal prices and historical data in advance of that recommendation; the July report will specify any proposed dollar increases and the board will vote if it chooses to do so then.
