The Flambeau School District Board of Education on Oct. 9 voted unanimously to move into closed session to discuss a proposed settlement in pending litigation involving the district and the board. The meeting notice cited Wisconsin law, stating the board would meet "Pursuant to Wis. Stat. § 19.85(1)(c),(e),(f), and/or (g)" to address matters that could include negotiation strategy, personnel matters and conferring with legal counsel.
The roll-call vote to convene into closed session recorded seven "Yes" votes and the meeting went into closed session at 6:04 p.m. The board later reconvened into open session at 8:26 p.m. on a motion by Doug Verdegan, seconded by Lana Nelson; the reconvening motion carried on a 7-0 roll-call vote. A subsequent motion by Verdegan to adjourn was carried, and the meeting ended at 8:26 p.m., with Linda Zimmer identified as the Board Clerk on the minutes.
