Granton launches SmartLab; three staff trained as facilitators
Summary

President Sheryl Young called the Oct. 14 meeting of the Granton Area School District Board of Education to order at 6:46 p.m. The board approved the agenda and the consent agenda, which included the Sept. 9 minutes and financial reports. The meeting’s Spotlight on Education reported that "SmartLab is up and running."
District staff members John Legrid, Kim Aumann and Jess Schier completed three days of training and are developing plans to bring students into the new lab as facilitators. The district later thanked those staff for the additional hours they spent outside normal duties to prepare the facility. The board also announced Students of the Month — Taywa Kuehn (elementary), Wyatt Faber (middle school) and Beth Arndt (high school) — and named Barb Friemoth Staff Person of the Month.
Why it matters: the SmartLab is presented as a new instructional resource that the district intends to integrate into student learning. Board members did not record additional budget action tied to the SmartLab during the meeting; staff training and operational planning are the immediate next steps.
