Andy Hamm presented a proposal for the Boyceville Middle/High School Science Olympiad varsity teams to attend a tournament at the University of Southern California from January 14–18, 2026. The itinerary presented to the Board included visits to the USC Natural History Museum, the Reagan Presidential Library and a behind-the-scenes engineering visit at Disneyland.
Trustees asked clarifying questions about funding and logistics; the presentation noted that Science Olympiad has funding available to cover trip expenses. The Board moved the budget discussion item that followed to after this presentation to allow trustees to consider how the district’s capital and operating priorities might affect support and oversight for out-of-state student travel.
