County approves two change orders for CR 400 E/CR 100 S roundabout, citing $96,187.40 in savings

Mike Growski of the Boone County Highway Department presented two change orders for the CR 400 East/CR 100 South roundabout and described them as cost-saving adjustments to the contract.
Growski said Change Order No. 1 substitutes chemically modified subgrade treatment for the originally-specified stone subgrade, producing a "cost savings opportunity in the amount of $81,394.36." He explained the change order creates a new pay item for chemically modified subgrade treatment and adjusts the overall contract balance.
On Change Order No. 2, Growski said the county will remove INDOT-standard lights from the contract and that Lebanon will supply new lights and assume future maintenance responsibility; he reported that change reduces the contract by "$14,793.04." Commissioners moved to approve both change orders and voted aye.
Combined, the two change orders represent $96,187.40 in identified contract reductions and include an explicit note that Lebanon will handle future maintenance for the lighting portion of the project.
