West Tennessee farmer describes rice‑milling startup backed by TDA grant

Carl Schultz, a West Tennessee farmer and owner of Tennemo Rice Company, told the committee that after applying for a Tennessee Department of Agriculture farm grant the family began milling rice in 2023 and is selling product primarily through internet sales. "Mostly it's through internet sales now, tinniemoerice.com," Schultz said, adding that shipments have gone to Los Angeles and New York.
Schultz described the local history behind the Tennemo name, outlined early steps to secure financing and thanked the department and legislators for program support. His remarks were presented during Ag Day guest presentations; no committee action followed.
