Waste Management cites permit deficiency; county told schedule may slip to January

A Waste Management representative updated the committee that the project's Phase 2 permitting process drew a Notice of Deficiency (NOD) and that the company will respond with new modeling. The vendor said responding to the NOD will likely push the timeline back by a month or two.
"We did receive an NOD...we've gotta respond to that," the Waste Management representative said, adding the company had previously expected to finalize the payment structure based on permanent settlements in December but now "it may be January." The representative also said the new cell would be adjacent to the old class‑3 cell and confirmed the company will seek to stay in front of state requirements on signage and traffic mitigation.
Committee members raised safety and access concerns after an audience member highlighted truck movements on Quamano/Kentucky Road; Waste Management said it had requested flashing signs from the state but the state declined and implemented other signage following a past assessment.
