"A $250,000 offer has been made and accepted, and we are doing an ... environmental ... survey," Commissioner Austin said. He told the committee the Phase I study will determine whether the property has issues that could prevent the purchase or construction.
The chair and other committee members asked for additional details about where the new lot lies relative to the existing cell and whether the sewage/percolation constraints can be solved through alternative engineering. No formal land‑use action or final contract vote took place at the meeting; the discussion was an informational update and the chair said the executive had authorized staff to begin a Phase I study and explore the purchase further.
