KWRD cites $1.34M engineering price and says Potawatomi will fund major share of construction

During detailed Q&A, Mark Eddington said the engineering phase for the regional sewer project is priced at approximately $1,340,000 and that current partner negotiations indicate Potawatomi could fund close to half of that engineering cost. He stressed that the engineering agreement would be limited to design work and that construction commitments and final cost allocations would be negotiated later, with off-ramps available if bids make the project unaffordable for a partner.
"There's kind of an offering up every new engineering. The engineering is $1,340,000," Eddington said when asked who pays the upfront work. He added that KWRD has successfully applied for low-interest revolving loans in the past (citing examples at 1.3% for a Malta project) and that the district expects similar financing options for this work. Committee members requested a clear written split for the engineering phase and noted they would not commit to construction until the design and bid prices were known.
