The Village of Shabbona approved multiple maintenance contracts during its June 23 meeting. The board authorized the village president to sign a TruGreen agreement for weed control at all three village parks; the resolution carried on roll call.
Trustees also approved a contract with All American Door to replace two overhead garage doors—at the truck bay and the village building—with an initial proposal of $7,972.80 discussed and a final recorded approval reflecting tax adjustments. The chair described the vendor as a “brand new business” and said the board prefers to support local startups where practical.
The board then approved targeted sidewalk repair work with contractor Tyler Kramer. Trustees reviewed a bid that included concrete and labor; because the contractor asked for a $2,250 deposit, the board authorized up to $8,000 to account for contingencies. Clerk recorded the roll call votes approving the sidewalk repair and related deposit.
Board members asked staff to ensure correct paperwork and tax adjustments are reflected in contracted amounts before final execution and to confirm timelines for the sidewalk repairs and door replacements.
