The Village of Shabbona Board of Trustees voted to adopt the annual appropriation ordinance for the fiscal year beginning May 1, 2025, and ending April 30, 2026. The chair said the new ordinance format “gives us just a little better handle on the budgeted items” and will be filed with the DeKalb County Clerk.
Clerk reported the ordinance is included in the board packet and that the approved appropriations will be entered into the village’s accounting software to produce monthly reports tracking expenses against those appropriations. The motion passed on a roll call vote and will be formally filed and published as required.
The adoption follows committee and staff review of the budget documents included in the board packet. Trustees said the new format should make it easier for staff and the board to monitor spending and produce clearer monthly financial reports. The board directed staff to file the ordinance with the county clerk and to implement the appropriation tracking in the accounting system.
