RFISD to raise breakfast price by 50 cents after $100,000 cafeteria loss

CFO Lorrie Remick told trustees that the district’s cafeteria lost nearly $100,000 in the previous year and rising commodity costs have increased program expenses. She said a half‑dollar increase across breakfast meals is part of the district’s response; Remick also explained that participating in the federal lunch program would not be cost‑effective for RFISD given the district’s low rate of students who qualify for free meals.
The price change was bundled with other consent agenda items that passed unanimously. Trustees did not pull the item for separate discussion during the meeting.
