Allan Magana, owner of Al's Depot and Emporium, told the Dunsmuir City Council he is eager for clarity on the city’s on-site cannabis consumption ordinance and asked what the next steps will be. "I'm optimistic while we are close to an outcome that balances public safety, downtown vitality, and sensible regulation," Magana said during general public comment.
Magana said his business has followed the city’s conditional-use permit processes and asked whether staff have prepared draft code language, whether additional public hearings are anticipated, and what enforcement, zoning or public-health issues still need community input. Council members said the planner and city manager were not present and promised to follow up; one council member urged moving the process forward given funds already allocated. The item remains under study; no formal action was taken at the Oct. 2 meeting.
