A district staff member told the Scobey K-12 Schools board that a set of updates to the 'Spartan standards' handbook will be presented in July, with major focus on attendance policy revisions and a reworked work-based learning program.
"Greg and I sat down, and I take notes throughout the year and put them in the handbook, and then we bring them to you," the staff member said, adding board members would receive a "Cliff's notes" version ahead of the meeting if they wanted.
The staff member said many smaller items were removed after a close review and that Annette led additions to the work-based learning material this year. The board did not vote on handbook language at the meeting; the item was described as forthcoming for the July agenda so members can review proposed edits before adoption.
Board members asked clarifying questions about timing and whether administrators could circulate drafts; the staff member said the district can provide advance copies by request. No formal action was taken at the June meeting beyond scheduling the handbook review for July.
