The El Monte Union High School District Board voted to approve item E‑2 on Jan. 21, ratifying the 2026 high‑school summer school calendar and schedule. The consent agenda was approved with item E‑2 held for discussion and then approved separately by a 5‑0 voice vote.
Trustee Qui Nguyen asked how Rio Hondo College's summer program would align with the district’s offerings and requested class lists; staff said recruitment is ongoing and class offerings will mirror prior years subject to registration. Assistant staff described a separate bell schedule for the district’s math academy and said recruitment began earlier this year than last.
Trustee Ricardo Padilla asked whether assistant principals and counselors are conducting outreach to feeder middle schools to increase preregistration; staff said assistant principals had started preregistration work and that logistics—English and Spanish parent orientation options—were planned. The board approved the summer schedule and asked staff to continue coordination and report back with enrollment details.
