Communications Specialist Kayleigh Whitsel reported that Rockdale ISD participated in the Special Olympics for the first time and recognized student athletes who earned medals. Whitsel named the students who earned bronze, silver and gold and singled out Katherine Shannon and Cindy Willis for their roles in launching and supporting the delegation.
Whitsel said the achievement marked a proud moment for the district and credited coaches and volunteers who supported the students. Trustees acknowledged the accomplishment during the hearing; no public comments were registered on the item.
