Small Hardy cycle track billed as a key connector to regional trails

Staff described the Hardy cycle track (a short segment between 7th and Rainier) as a small but critical connector in a broader regional trail network. Ellen Talbot said the project is modest in cost but important for linking local facilities to regional routes and that King County Parks will be a principal design and funding partner because of a recently passed parks bond.
"It's a small, slug of a $110,000 from Sound Transit, but I think the bigger player here on this project is King County Parks...of that bond, there's about 65,000,000 that is available and or that's available and eligible for infrastructure, trail infrastructure, through the city of Renton," Talbot said, describing coordination on design and funding. Talbot said the Hardy segment helps connect to future transit station access and larger trail corridors.
Council members expressed support for protected bike lanes and regional connectivity, and staff said they have met regularly with King County Parks on design coordination.
