Campus leadership at Josefa L. Sambrano Elementary presented monitoring of student progress and mClass assessment results, explaining threshold differences across Beginning-, Middle- and End-of-Year testing. Principal Susana Frescas said the campus shares student activities with parents and noted challenges with students meeting higher thresholds as the year progresses.
Board Member Alexis Tellez requested specific results for Emergent Bilingual and Special Education students; Trustee Eduardo Chavez asked why mClass shows little to no growth and Dr. Blanca Cruz said the district will revamp intervention plans and expand small-group instruction and targeted staff training. Dr. Cruz also confirmed the district classroom cap is 24 students but noted several classes are under that cap, and staff will explore additional strategies including after-school events to boost engagement and support.
