Superintendent Dr. Jeannie Meza-Chavez read the memo requesting the exploratory authorization and facilities staff member Jesus Martinez described existing lift station and sewer infrastructure functionality at the middle school campus. District staff estimated that, if the middle school were moved, the high school building would be at roughly 71% capacity. Board Member Myrna Hernandez moved the motion, Board Member Lorenzo Luevano seconded, and the motion passed 6-0 with one absence.
Trustees raised concerns about traffic and the effect on families of housing middle-school grades alongside high-school students, and Dr. Meza-Chavez said the district would schedule conversations with current sixth- and seventh-grade parents and include instructional-alignment planning. The board asked administration to include parent engagement, staffing implications, safety considerations (including SRO staffing), and instructional alignment options in the exploratory analysis. The motion authorizes study only; it does not direct a campus move or set a timeline for implementation.
