Council hears additions to walkway program, including Talbot Road and Southeast 164th sidewalks

City staff told the committee they added a set of walkway projects to the draft TIP to increase connectivity to schools, parks and regional trails. Ellen Talbot listed the projects added for 2027–2032 and said they are included in the walkway program appendix for transparency.
"...those are, 1 Southeast 164th Street from Nelson Middle School to Lindbergh High School...Talbot Road from approximately South 21st...and then Northeast 24th Street sidewalk project. This is the segment next to Kennydale Lions Park," Talbot said while enumerating the additions. She said project listings are now included in the appendix so residents and decision-makers can see specific locations.
Council members praised protected bike lanes and sidewalk work and asked for printed materials to review the map in detail. Staff said design funding for some projects is being requested in the 2027–2028 CIP with an aim to begin design work and later seek construction funding from the Transportation Benefit District.
