Students describe AVID, multicultural night and college plans to board

Students from Eureka High School told the board that AVID and student clubs are strengthening college readiness and community ties. "My name is Eddie Gonzalez, and I've been in AVID for 4 years," said one senior who announced plans to attend Cal Poly Humboldt and credited AVID with helping him navigate admissions and FAFSA; other AVID students described campus visits and acceptance offers to multiple CSU and UC campuses.
AAPI Club co‑presidents Ken Tan and Kiara Zoe Tayag described their March 29 multicultural night at Eureka High: the event hosted roughly 10 performances and 15 cultural groups and involved outreach to neighboring schools and community organizations. Students invited trustees to an AVID honorary ceremony on June 5 and asked for continued support for AVID programming and multicultural events.
