The Board of County Commissioners approved a fiscal year 2026 year‑end budget amendment for Calvert County Public Schools that reallocates existing appropriations to align budgeted accounts with actual year‑end expenditures.
Melina Brookshire, county chief financial officer, and Christine Jewett, CCPS chief financial officer, explained the amendment reallocates $1,000,000 from student services and $100,000 from instructional salaries and wages into student transportation and operation of plant to address higher‑than‑anticipated transportation, energy and facilities costs. The Board of Education previously approved the transfer on June 11, 2026, the presenters said.
Commissioners approved the amendment by motion and voice vote; presenters emphasized the change reallocates existing appropriations and does not request additional county funding or increase the overall operating budget.
