During the June 10 meeting the board recognized academic and staff accomplishments across the district. Ms. Deborah Cortez recognized Math Bee and STEM Tank coordinators and student winners; Dr. Blanca Cruz recognized Classroom Fund 2026 recipients by name and campus.
Recipients named in the meeting included Rogelio Aldavaz (San Elizario High School), Sara Borja Guardian (Ann M. Garcia-Enriquez Middle School), Elena Moreira-Puentes (Alfonso Borrego, Sr. Elementary School), Jennifer Perez (Josefa L. Sambrano Elementary School) and Isabel Navarro-Rodriguez (Lorenzo G. Loya Primary School). Ms. Martha Santana and Ms. Lorena Robles recognized Ms. Tawnya Montaf1o as Teacher of the Month and Ms. Maria Maldonado as Employee of the Month for Alfonso Borrego, Sr. Elementary School. The recognitions were presented as part of the meeting's district recognitions section and required no board action.
