Superintendent Dr. Michele Pillari told the Board the district will work with the New Jersey Preschool Inclusive Education Project (NJPIEP), a partnership between the New Jersey Department of Education Office of Special Education and Montclair State University’s Center for Autism and Early Childhood Mental Health. Pillari said the project will bring an inclusion facilitator to provide on‑ and off‑site coaching, trainings, strategic planning meetings and consultation to strengthen inclusive preschool practices.
Pillari also reiterated New Jersey Department of Health guidance for preschool influenza vaccination: children 6 months through 59 months enrolled in preschool must receive at least one dose between Sept. 1 and Dec. 31 and provide documentation by Dec. 5. She told families that students without documentation face exclusion from school after Dec. 31 through March 31 unless documentation is provided.
