The superintendent's report on Oct. 21 provided updates on curriculum and student activities across district schools. Gifted & Talented data review and upcoming competitions were noted; Grade 7 County Quiz Bowl is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 28 at Memorial School and the district will host the Grade 4 Battle of the Books. The report also said ESL teachers completed assessments for newly enrolled ML students and interventionists are identifying students to receive targeted supports.
Preschool programming highlights included a new "Puppy of the Month" recognition and a themed study on balls with five investigations connecting science and literacy; the HSA organized Pumpkin Patch events (School #1 on 10/16; ECC 10/17–10/18) and first‑responder visits occurred in mid‑October. Halloween/Pajama parades were scheduled for Oct. 31 (School #1 9:30, ECC 9:45, CO 10:30). The report referenced required health screenings and an early childhood advisory council meeting; no policy changes or budget amounts were announced in this portion of the meeting.
These updates were informational; the Board approved related consent agenda items elsewhere in the meeting.
