Committee hears completion reports for Lions Park surfacing and Mac Porter repairs

Staff reported that the Lions Park playground surfacing received a new top layer in May 2025 after earlier seams were judged substandard; the work was paid from a prior budget carryover and the actual cost was $161,529, below budget. The second phase at Lions Park — a dechlorination system and riprap at the creek to prevent splash-pad chlorine from entering Bear Creek — is nearly complete with costs to date of $13,381.

Staff also reported completion of Mac Porter Park improvements including three new steel doors for the restroom/chase room building at a cost of $5,115, completed prior to spring recreation. The presenter said these park projects have generated positive public feedback and noted savings from one element were applied to other items in the package.
