The Dixon City Council voted unanimously Dec. 12 to adopt Ordinance Measure J, increasing the city's sales tax rate from 7.375% to 8.375%. Staff told the council the change is estimated to generate about $3,000,000 in additional local revenue annually.
Staff also told the council that the Department of Tax and Fee Administration required same-day certification for the measure to allow tax collection to begin April 1; staff warned that failing to certify today would cause an approximate three-month delay and require budget revisions. The council recorded a roll-call vote and adopted the ordinance and related resolution.
