Planner (S3) described the Mac Porter Park Connector (Route 33 trail extension) that links the park under I‑35 to Jesse Street and provides a crosswalk to the senior center. S3 said staff held a public meeting Oct. 3, contractors are finalizing preliminary plans and the submittal to MoDOT and environmental/right-of-way work will follow prior to construction bidding.
S3 explained the project uses a reimbursement grant model and that federal funds for construction will be available in federal fiscal year 2026 (starting Oct. 1, 2025). "We were awarded $1,500,000," S3 said, noting that the award covers part of three major sidewalk/trail projects and that the city will fill remaining gaps with use-tax funds as needed.
