Mayor Keith Keogh asked staff where funding for routine roadway maintenance, pothole repairs and code enforcement appears in the proposed budget and called out a recurring pothole near Billy's Meat Market as an example of a frequently reported concern. Transportation staff explained that pothole repairs are funded through the General Fund as routine maintenance and that the local recurrence at Billy's Meat Market stems from underlying drainage defects that the Florida Department of Transportation's State Road 50 project will ultimately correct.
Interim City Manager Tim Maslow told Council the upcoming General Fund budget workshop will contain a more detailed discussion of roadway maintenance, code compliance, and related operational funding and that staff will evaluate interim measures to improve the roadway until permanent State Road 50 improvements are constructed. Keogh also requested long-term financial projections illustrating multiple scenarios to help guide future capital investments and decisions about borrowing and reserves.
