During the public comment portion of the July 20 meeting, Jenn Eastridge urged the City Council to request a broader internal review of a Groveland Police Department internal affairs investigation involving an officer's operation of a police vehicle.
Eastridge said she had been contacted by several police officers who expressed dissatisfaction with the outcome of the investigation. She alleged the inquiry involved three incidents in which an officer reportedly operated emergency lights without an active dispatch call and further claimed the officer had driven at speeds of approximately 124 miles per hour. She asked why the investigation was limited to the reported incidents rather than reviewing a broader period and said the disciplinary action imposed did not adequately address the alleged conduct. Eastridge said the situation had negatively affected department morale and urged the council to request a broader internal review of the officer's driving history.
The minutes record the allegation and her request; no council response that expanded the investigation was recorded in the meeting minutes.
