Upon returning to open session at 7:46 p.m. the board approved employment contracts for the 2026–2027 school year covering teachers; Barrera Elementary, Jo Nelson Middle School and Santa Rosa High School counselors; school nurses; a librarian; a Gear-Up coordinator; deans of instruction for Barrera Elementary, Jo Nelson Middle School and Santa Rosa High School; and an athletic trainer. The motion to approve the employment contracts was moved by Juan M. Perez, seconded by Mark Chairez, and recorded as carried with all trustees voting yes.
The board also approved professional resignations in a separate motion moved by Rene Flores and seconded by Rachel Olivarez, again recorded as unanimous. Additionally, the trustees considered and approved the termination at the end of the contract term of two Chapter 21 probationary contracts identified by initials A.B. and F.Z.; motions and recorded unanimous votes are noted in the minutes. "Motion: Juan Perez Second: Mark Chairez, Vote: All in favor," the minutes record for the employment-contract motion.
Minutes do not state additional details about the grounds for the Chapter 21 terminations, severance, or any follow-up administrative steps; the board recorded the motions and outcomes in open session as required by law.
