The Comal County Commissioners Court on Oct. 9 nominated Aaron Craig O'Neil as the county’s representative to the Comal Appraisal District Board of Directors and amended the resolution to specify a four-year term. The court did not cast the formal ballot at the meeting; commissioners said they will record votes in the next two meetings and submit them to the district by the statutory deadline.
John Tyler, the county’s outgoing representative, reviewed recent changes at the appraisal district, including a shift to a nine-member board with staggered terms, the creation of a Tax Liaison Officer to assist taxpayers, expanded customer-service outreach and increased transparency of materials online. Tyler said those changes allowed the district to reduce outstanding suits and speed the appraisal-review process. Commissioners thanked Tyler for his service; Commissioner Webb moved the nomination for Craig O'Neil and the court amended the term length in the resolution before carrying the motion.
