Leslie Campbell spoke during the public-comment period to raise safety and accessibility concerns about Purslong Unit 1, a subdivision that recently was approved with two variances: a reduced right-of-way and a reduced front setback. Campbell said moving utilities behind the back of the curb and placing manholes and gate valves within sidewalks have created ADA-compliance problems and could impede emergency access.
"These plans are inconsistent with the county regulations and neighboring developments," Campbell said, arguing the county should apply rules consistently and, if standards need updating, pursue formal code revisions rather than selective variances. She asked the court and the engineer’s office to uphold existing standards to protect residents and future development.
