Comal County court approves $1.89 million in claims, advances routine plats and budget transfers

The Comal County Commissioners Court opened its Oct. 9 meeting by approving claims totaling $1,887,525.65, covering EFTs of $880,148.33 and regular claims of $1,007,377.32. Commissioner Hogg moved to approve the claims; the court carried the motion on a voice vote.

The court then moved through several ministerial agenda items. The court approved an amendment to the plat for The Peninsula at Mystic Shores Unit 1 (combining Lots 648 and 649 to form Lot 648R) and authorized the county judge to sign. Staff recommended approval of a one-year continuation certificate for a construction bond for The Estates at Mitchell Ranch in the amount of $1,024,398.03 to protect unfinished road and improvement work. The court also acknowledged completion of private roads and stormwater improvements in Enchanted Bluff Unit 2 and released the associated surety (construction bond 4471591). In separate action the court approved a vacate-and-replat correcting subdivision violations at Rocky Creek Ranch phases.

Several budget transfers also passed. Commissioners approved a line-item transfer to provide funds for capital vehicle repairs through the remainder of 2025 and approved funding to install a generator-backed mini-split HVAC unit to regulate temperature in the jail’s security electronics room. Major Wallen told the court the HVAC unit would be connected to the generator so “in case of loss of power, we still have a way to cool this room” to protect electronics.

All of the motions on these routine items passed on voice votes; the court noted Commissioner Crownover was absent at the start of the meeting.
