He cautioned trustees that both choices carry legal and financial risks — including potential litigation from civil-rights groups or adverse state action — and recommended following the law while carefully documenting procedures. “We could be sued by the ACLU and the freedom from religion folks,” the superintendent said, noting documentation and parent-permission safeguards.
The board moved forward with the consent agenda and approved a missed-school-day waiver to use banked minutes for a makeup day; additional policy adoptions will follow standard review and documentation procedures.
