Phil Palmstein (S5) and district presenters provided a facilities update that included a planned conversion of football and softball fields to artificial turf and renovations to the Avenue Building and restrooms.
Palmstein said the turf conversion was expected to begin on May 20 and would be a roughly six‑week project, but noted the district was still waiting on required city permits. He also said Avenue Building renovations should begin mid‑May with an anticipated finish date of January 27. "Football and softball fields were expecting that conversion to turf to begin on May 20. It should be about a 6 week project," Phil Palmstein said.
Board staff also reported that Haskell restrooms and plans for the Avenue Building were awaiting blueprint approval. The presenters said they would provide updates to the board when permits and approvals were secured, and they flagged the bond program as an ongoing source of project oversight.
