District previews assessment progress, Ambassador Academy and UIL events

A staff presenter explained the district's adaptive interim testing used in December for third graders, describing the format and how it shortens tests based on student responses. The presenter said the 2024 cohort has a goal of 66 percent and that although there is a slight dip in beginning-of-year data, students are showing growth.
Presenter described the Ambassador Academy program and said district staff will share its selection and purpose at the Designing the Future of Education Conference March 22–24. The Presenter also noted a scholarship-funded study trip to Peru beginning July 15 to observe career and technical education practices; the Presenter said the district is not paying for the trip. Upcoming UIL activities were noted, including elementary UIL on Jan. 30 and an expected UIL realignment announcement in February.
