Comal County issues proclamations for hunger action, suicide prevention, recovery month and community groups

Comal County Commissioners on Sept. 4 approved several proclamations and heard brief remarks from local nonprofit representatives.
The court proclaimed September 2025 as Hunger Action Month and recognized local food partners (CRRC of Canyon Lake, SOS Food Bank, Salvation Army, Hope Center, Steve's Pantry, Hill Country Bible Church) and regional partners including the San Antonio Food Bank and New Braunfels Food Bank. A representative who said he was speaking on behalf of the San Antonio and New Braunfels food banks thanked the court for county leadership and cited week-to-week service numbers; Tiffany Querring, executive director of CRRC of Canyon Lake, asked residents to "build a longer table" by donating to local pantries.
The court also approved proclamations recognizing Suicide Prevention Month and National Recovery Month; Peyton Wagner of Hill Country MHDD urged community involvement and described mobile crisis outreach and training options. Zach Saunders, program director at Recovery Works and a person in long-term recovery, invited the public to a Recovery Works community event next Friday evening.
Finally, the court recognized the Pilot Club of Canyon Lake on its 50th anniversary and accepted comments on the organization's work supporting the Ty Preston Memorial Library, traumatic brain-injury camps and local community programs. Commissioners welcomed the local groups and encouraged participation in upcoming events.
