Licensing review planned for FY26; DSPD to get three new support FTEs
Summary
The Division of Licensing plans a comprehensive FY26 rule review to prioritize health-and-safety rules and reduce duplicative burdens; the division also received funding to hire three FTEs focused on supporting DSPD providers.
Shannon, from the Division of Licensing and Background Checks, told providers the division will undertake a comprehensive review of rules in FY25–FY26 "to prioritize regulation that significantly enhances health and safety while eliminating administrative burdens associated with measures not proven to improve health and safety," and invited provider feedback via upcoming surveys.
Shannon added that public comment periods will still be required when rules are posted. Separately, Shannon and Marcy confirmed the division received funding for three new FTEs in the division for FY26, "their primary focus will be supporting the DSPD provider community to support those DSPD clients," to help alleviate staffing and administrative bottlenecks, providers were told. Providers were asked to watch for survey requests and public notice postings as the review proceeds.
Why this matters: rule changes affect day-to-day compliance for licensed providers and the additional DSPD-focused staff are intended to reduce administrative friction and support provider operations.
