The Tisbury Finance & Advisory Committee voted to recommend a citizens' petition to expand the Select Board from three to five members; the motion passed 4-0 with one abstention on April 1, 2026. Committee members said the petition was intended to educate the public and improve workplace comfort for workers not born in the United States when discussing a separate Fourth Amendment workplace article, which the FinCom also recommended.
At the same time, the committee decided not to recommend amendments to the Town Administrator bylaw or a non-binding resolution on town-staff transfers. Members emphasized the need for collaborative drafting by elected boards and personnel professionals and voted to include explanatory language with those articles rather than advancing them as-is to Town Meeting.
