Council adopts 2025 budget and raises fire tax; appoints Michelle Poole as borough manager

At its Dec. 9 meeting the Red Lion Borough Council adopted the proposed 2025 budget after a recorded vote of 5–2, with Mr. Klinedinst and Ms. Greer opposing. Council then adopted Ordinance 2024-12-7 increasing the fire tax from 0.3 mills to 0.4 mills for 2025; the ordinance passed 6–1 with Mr. Klinedinst opposing.
Council accepted the retirement notice of Borough Manager Dan Shaw; his official retirement date is Jan. 13, 2025, though his last working day will be Dec. 23, 2024 with paid time off through Jan. 13. Council voted to appoint Michelle Poole as Borough Manager and Open Records Officer effective Dec. 23, 2024; the motion passed unanimously. Council also appointed Jay Holt as BCO and Zoning Officer effective Dec. 9, 2024.
Other administrative actions included adopting the 2025 Council calendar, suspending parking meters from Dec. 10, 2024 to Jan. 6, 2025, and removing outgoing Treasurer Becky Magnani from accounts effective Dec. 12, 2024. Council authorized removing Dan Shaw from bank accounts and adding Michelle Poole and appropriate council signatories by Dec. 31, 2024.
