Two members of the public spoke during the meeting's public comment period, addressing the upcoming superintendent evaluation and possible contract action. Rene Rangel told trustees they should clarify whether they would support the superintendent and, if so, explain the reasons for that support. He also urged trustees to consider whether to extend the superintendent's contract or grant a raise.
Mike Perez urged the board to base the evaluation on facts rather than personal feelings, noting that the superintendent's role is difficult and that the current superintendent —comes from a family of educators.— He told the board, "I hope you do what is right when you do the evaluation for the Superintendent." The public comments preceded the board's decision to move into executive session to conduct the evaluation.
