The Sonora ISD board approved a temporary extension of the district policy DC(LOCAL) to permit the superintendent to hire contract employees effective March 26, 2026 through Aug. 12, 2026 because of exigent circumstances.
Trustee Mason Martinez moved to approve the temporary extension and Trustee Colby Bates seconded. Board President Shanna Petty‑Castro asked whether the district policy could be revised to reflect a March start date; Superintendent Michael Kissire said he would look into the possibility of amending the policy. The motion passed unanimously.
