The Sonora ISD board announced the May 2, 2026 school trustee election was cancelled because candidates were unopposed. Board President Shanna Castro read the order of cancellation and the board administered the oath of office to the newly elected members.
The board then reorganized officers: Colby Bates nominated Shanna Castro for board president; John Jones nominated Colby Bates for vice president; and Colby Bates nominated Cynthia Perez for board secretary. The minutes record the board’s confirmations of Shanna Castro as president, Colby Bates as vice president and Cynthia Perez as secretary.
