Coaches and community leaders urge Sinton ISD to open facilities for youth basketball, consider adding soccer

Two community representatives used the board's public comment period to ask Sinton ISD to support local youth sports. Alex Rodrigues, identified as a coach for the Soccer Association, told the board the soccer team recently performed well and said they will "continue to train and improve in the hopes that SISD would bring Soccer to the district." He urged the district to consider hosting or supporting soccer so students do not have to travel for play.
Charleston Bess, president of the Bone Crushers Association, requested access to SISD gym facilities to bring youth basketball back to the community, saying the Sinton 4 Youth program "did not thrive because of having to travel to another near by city" and that lack of facility access has harmed the program. Both commentators asked the board to consider facility access and local programming to support youth athletics.
