Loretta Zavala, director of External Funding and Grants, told trustees the grant application combines Title I, Title II, Title III and Title IV funding streams. "The intent of these funds is to address needs for student achievement, professional learning for teachers and administrators, needs of English Learners, migrant education, and well-rounded education," Zavala said.
Zavala outlined the broad purposes of the consolidated application: to target supports for student achievement, expand professional learning for educators and administrators, provide services for English learners and support migrant education and well-rounded learning opportunities. The presentation was informational; the minutes record no motions or votes on the grant during the hearing.
The board opened the floor for public comment on the ESSA presentation; no members of the public spoke. Following the presentation and the lack of public comments, trustees adjourned the meeting.
